uhh pretty sure this is landlord propaganda about what will happen to you if you bring a new occupant into your apartment who is not on your lease

Blue shadows, immersive and shallow, orange and dusty rose afterglow, unstructured blazers, kimono sleepwear, the upper floors, the cornices and balustrades and decorative columns, the cardigans and the duplicates, the databases and the sexual harassment, the cut-outs and the hidden documents, the threatening phone calls and the bas-relief lions. How many roommates have you had? What references can you provide? A central stairwell which descends all the way to hell, then keeps going down.

  • Review by Sean Fennessey ★★★ 1

This and Pacific Heights feature the two greatest “I’m a sociopath and all the evidence of my family trauma can be found in a box I’ve kept featuring newspaper clippings that detail why I’m nuts” sequences. An effective expository device that was satirized so well by Jordan Peele with Allison Williams’ Polaroid Box ‘O Boyfriends in Get Out. This is fun, slick trash with two terrific lead performances and enough blue light to power a precinct.

  • Review by Sally Jane Black 7

The pain of loneliness can drive us to many extremes. The agony of do I love her or do I want to be her is really just "I wish I were lovable" wrapped up in the melange of sexuality and gender and romance and isolation that is created by a world that tells us success is digital individualism. Before its time in some ways, of its time in so many others, and outside reality for the most part.

(In the end, the answer is to rely on your gay friends to save you.)

  • Review by Brennan Klein ★★★½

You know Jennifer Jason Leigh is crazy because she likes Bridget Fonda's haircut.

  • Review by matt lynch ★★★

Bridget Fonda's character isn't such a great roommate either.
