Turn away
If you could get me a drink
Of water 'cause my lips are chapped and faded
Call my aunt Marie
Help her gather all my things
And bury me
In all my favorite colors
My sisters and my brothers, still
I will not kiss you
'Cause the hardest part of this
Is leaving you
Now turn away
'Cause I'm awful just to see
'Cause all my hair's abandoned all my body
All my agony
Know that I will never marry
Baby I'm just soggy from the chemo
But counting down the days to go
It just ain't living
And I just hope you know
That if you say (if you say)
Good-bye today (good-bye today)
I'd ask you to be true (I'd ask you to be true)
'Cause the hardest part of this
Is leaving you
'Cause the hardest part of this
Is leaving you

I listened to a commentary by the band about this song. This is an in-your-face, burn it to the ground song about CANCER. Cancer affects 1 in 3 people, either to you or a loved one. I am still surprised when I cry every time I hear it, and I haven't experienced that emotional pain like I read in some other posts on the site. This is a POWERFUL song, as powerful as any edgy, hardcore punk tune. There's anger, remorse, regret, and just overwhelming sadness in this song. I have never in my life experienced such a song that causes such emotion in me.

Fuck all of you who say this song is gross and Gerard knows nothing about it, and this is a "shitty" band and this song isnt deep and your a fucking pansy to cry about it. And this isnt recycled you tards.Number one: It isn't gross, its about cancer. Number tow: How the fuck do you know Gerard doesnt mknow about cancer? If you hate them, about you know shit about how his life has been. He knows about DEATH and cancer can be used as a metaphor. Number 3: They ARENT shitty, i hate hate people who think that "They're SO much more lyk hardcore and better" because they listen to metal bands, wtf? Number 4: Anyone who says this song isnt deep and you cant cry at it are stupid! Your being hyopcriitical, i bet anyone who said that hasnt had cancer either! So you're saying your on expert on cancer, but Gerard isnt? And lastly: How is it recycled? wtf?
I love this song, it's sad, yes it is sad to all haters with no lifes.

The album "Welcome to the Black Parade" is about a cancer patient who is dying and is reliving his past. This song is "The Patient" telling his loved ones or one that he doesn't want to leave them. But he's dying, so he has to. He's pushing them away (he statesmen he will not kiss who he's talking to) because he doesn't want them to be hurt by his death. This song is deep and just amazing

It is plain and beautiful and painful at the same time. The way Gerard sings it gives it even deeper meaning. Fear of death, sorrow of leaving everyone he loves behind, anger at being weak and hopeless... It is a very touching piece.

My Opinion
Although I love tyler and josh as if they are my own two sons, I think the original was way better. twenty one pilots's cover sounds like the song is coming from an outer space. the repeat on "kiss you" is unnecessary in my opinion. his soft voice only represents the tiredness cancer causes.in the original, gerard managed to make me feel the fear, agony and anger a terminal cancer patient might feel.BUT, both are beautiful.

I absolutely love this song. For so long I had claimed Prison as my favorite song. Heh. But I think that Cancer has taken that role now. I first heard it at the Hammersmith gig. Lots of people were crying, myself included, and my mum had to step outside, heh. So, it is such an emotional song, and it's a hundred times more emotional when you hear it live, I think. My grandpa recently died from cancer, so this song means so much to me. It hurts every time to listen to it because I'm definitely not over his death. But even though it's painful to think about, this song is so brutally honest that it's just the kind of song I need.

i got that from the $2 show. if you can't figure out the meaning of this song than i don't know what to tell you. it's so blunt. and i can't listen to it without holding back tears. it's just so brutally honest. wow. kudos to mcr for making yet another song. much f*ing love

Jesse with the long hair.... Robert Earl Keen, Jr. Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's. Fortnight Taylor Swift The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro. Fast Car Tracy Chapman "Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp Led Zeppelin This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.Rate These Lyrics
