Mattie is a graduate of Morris College and is a retired teacher.She is a member of the South Carolina Morticians Association (SCMA), the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association (NFD&MA), the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association (SCFDA), and the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA). She is a member of Mt. Carmel AME Church, member of the Order of Eastern Star, and the South Carolina Education Association-Retired (SCEA-R).
Octavia M. Gethers, MHA, CFSP, CPC

Octavia is a graduate of the College of Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina.She earned a degree in Funeral Service from Fayetteville Technical Community College. Octavia was the 2002 recipient of the J. M. Nolte Scholar Academic Excellence award presented by the University Mortuary Science Education Association.
Octavia served as the Director of Public Relations for the South Carolina Morticians Association for the year 2006-2007. She is a member of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association (SCFDA), the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), the South Carolina Morticians Association (SCMA) and the National Funeral Director and Mortician Association (NFDMA). Octavia is a member of Mt. Carmel AME Church and is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Mario A. Gethers, CFSP

Mario is a licensed Funeral Director with Gethers Funeral Home, Inc. and a member of Moncks Corner AME Church. He is a graduate of South Carolina State University. Mario is also a member of Moncks Corner Lodge #323, where he is a Past Master; the Scottish and York Rites; and is a Shriner. Mario also serves the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of South Carolina as Worshipful Grand Ambassador. He has previously served as a Deputy Grand Lecturer and Deputy at Large for Special Projects. Mario is also a member of the South Carolina Morticians Association (SCMA), the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association (NFD&MA), the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association (SCFDA), the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), and the Lions Club. He is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Mario is a past participant in the Meet the Mentors Program sponsored by the NFDA at the Emory Conference Center Hotel, Atlanta, GA, on March 19, 2013. This program selects 50 funeral directors from across the nation who are under 40 years old to learn from leaders in their industry and share ideas amongst their peers.
Mario recently was elevated to a Grand Inspector General of the Thirty-Third and last degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Prince Hall Affiliated (TN) in Jacksonville, FL and was elected Vice President of the William Moore Jr. Class of 2022.

Terris is a licensed Funeral Director with Gethers Funeral Home, Inc. and serves as pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church, Pineville, SC. He is a graduate of St. Stephen High School and obtained a B.S. degree from Voorhees College, Denmark, SC, Masters of Science degree in Criminal Justice from South University, Savannah, GA and is currently pursuing a Ph. D. degree in Education Leadership and Administration from Capella University, Minneapolis, MN. He is a graduate of International Theological Seminary, Plymouth, FL and Piedmont Technical College School of Embalming, Greenwood, SC. He is also an Embalmer Apprentice, Certified Cremation Services Provider and member of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA).
Terris has served honorably in the U.S. Army as a Food Service Sergeant and Airborne Paratrooper. He also served in the Army National Guard as a Medical Sergeant. He is a former Operations Lieutenant with the St. Stephen Police Department. He is currently employed with the SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED), where he started as an arson investigator, was appointed to the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, and later assigned as a full-time member of the Executive Protection Security Detail for former Governor Nikki Haley. He presently serves as a Senior Special Agent in the Regulatory Unit at SLED. He was also presented with the Order of the Palmetto, the highest award given to a citizen of South Carolina for outstanding service.
Terris also serves as manager of the gospel recording group High Spirits, a published author, and a football and basketball official with the SC High School League. He is truly indeed a man with many gifts and talents!

Henry E. Dixon, a native of Cordesville, South Carolina, is a Funeral Director’s Assistant. He received his education in Berkeley County public schools, Trident Technical College and Cummins Theological Seminary. He is the founder and pastor of Truth Tabernacle, Inc., Cordesville, SC.
Pastor Dixon is a gospel recording artist. He is a member of the North Carolina Radio Announcers Guild and the Gospel Music Workshop of America. He has recorded two CDs – “Old Time Country Church: and “Sweet Water.”

Apostle Sam Gourdine is the pastor and founder of Abiding Word Family Ministries. He has served as pastor for 26 years and served in ministry for 29 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Jersey City State University, Master of Arts Degree in Vocational Counseling from South Carolina State University, and a Diploma in Ministry Development from Word Ministry Institute, in association with Light Ministry Institute from Houston, Texas.
He is a Licensed Real Estate Agent and is presently with Agent Owned Realty. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of Berkeley Electric Cooperative, representing District 4.
